Apply the Same Threshold Setting to Multiple Entries Using a Template

If you want to use the same threshold for many entries, it is faster to use a template, which applies the same setting to more than one entry. You can use templates for dispatchers and services. The entry must be the same type. For example, if you set thresholds for a server, you can apply all threshold settings to other servers. If you set thresholds for a service, you can apply all threshold settings to other services of the same type.

For individual entries, you can choose whether thresholds override thresholds template settings.

Steps
  1. Start Cognos Connection.

  2. In the upper-right corner, click Launch, Cognos Administration.

  3. On the Status tab, click System.

  4. In the upper left corner of the Scorecard pane, click the arrow to view the Change view menu, and then click Templates.

The template mode is displayed in the Scorecard and Metrics panes.

  5. In the Scorecard pane, click the entry that you want.

The applicable metric groups appears in the Metrics pane. The default is Server.

  6. To change the template for a metric, in the Metrics pane, click the Edit thresholds button  next to the metric.

  7. To specify a threshold value, click in the threshold box and enter the threshold number you want.

  8. Click the arrow beside the threshold value to specify which range the value itself falls into.

For example, if your maximum value is 50 and you want values of 50 to fall into the average category rather than the poor category, click the arrow to move the threshold value into the average category.

  9. Click OK.

All entries of this type inherit the thresholds that you set in the template.
