View or Change a User Profile

You can view or change user preferences. You can also delete specific items in a user’s My Folder and Portal . This may be useful in the following situations:

If a user was deleted using your third-party authentication provider, the user no longer appears in Cognos 8 and you cannot change the user profile.

You can only see user profiles of users who have logged in at least once. When users have logged on, there is a date displayed in the Modified column.

You must have the required permissions to access Cognos Administration functionality. See Secured Functions and Features. To view a user profile, delete content, or change content, you must have traverse permissions for the user account and any other folder that must use Public Folders. You must also have write permissions for the object and the parent of the object that you want to delete.

Steps to View or Change Preferences
  1. Start Cognos Connection.

  2. In the upper-right corner, click Launch, Cognos Administration.

  3. On the Security tab, click Users, Groups, and Roles.

  4. Click the namespace that contains the user.

  5. Find the user whose preferences you want to view or change. You can use the Search feature to find a user .

  6. In the Actions column, click More.

  7. Click Set preferences.

  8. Click Cancel to exit without making changes or make changes and click OK.

Steps to Delete Content
  1. Start Cognos Connection.

  2. In the upper-right corner, click Launch, Cognos Administration.

  3. On the Security tab, click Users, Groups, and Roles.

  4. Select the namespace that contains the user.

  5. Find the user. You can use the Search feature to find a user .

  6. In the Name column, click the user.

    A list of the user’s folders appears.

  7. Click a folder to see its contents.

    You cannot delete the folders themselves.

  8. Click an item in a folder, then click the delete button on the toolbar.
